what should I expect when I activate my license plate?

MessageByPlate™ will be added as a contact in your address book.


The MessageByPlate™  web app will be automatically installed on your mobile device.


Previous messages sent to your vehicles license plate will be delivered.


You will receive instant new message notifications for new messages received.

No.
All text messages are sent/received from MessageByPlate™ proprietary service numbers.

can anyone message a vehicles license plate?

Yes.

MessageByPlate facilitates messaging any vehicles owners by license plate. However, text messages sent from private accounts (i.e. non-certifed accounts) will NOT be delivered if the vehicles owner has set their account to receive messages from certified parking locations only.

  • Users are not informed of their intended recipients communication preference. (i.e. “All” or “Certified Locations Only”)
  • Text messages sent from certifed locations (e.g. Airports, Events Venues, Stadiums etc.) are guaranteeded to be delivered.

do I need to activate my license plate more than once?

No.
Vehicle owners need only activate their vehicle(s) license plate one-time to enjoy ongoing service.

MessageByPlate™ is a next generation web app. No app download is required. The service is automatically installed on your mobile device with service activation.

Private Vehicles

  1. Press the “Manage Vehicle” button below.
  2. Press the “Deactivate” button for the license plate you wish to deactivate from service.

 

Rental Cars

Rental cars are automatically deactivated from service upon conclusion of your rental contract term. Text notification will be sent confirming deactivation when the vehicle is activated by it’s next rental customer.

  3. Enter your vehicles license plate. Use “✱” for special characters. (e.g. ♥)

MessageByPlate™ maintains a zero tolerance for messaging abuse including profanity, misrepresentation or use of threatening language.

  • First time offenders will be sent a warning by an MBP system admin.
  • Second time offenders will be suspended from service for 2 weeks with notification.
  • Third time offenders will be declined service indefinitely.

Users messaging accounts containing, alluding to, or suspected of criminal intent will be reported to the authorities.

can I control who I receive messages from?

Yes.

Users have two simple communication preference options.

 

All

  • Recieve messages from both private citizens and MessageByPlate™ certified locations.
  • Civilians are identified by “private account” in text messaging exchanges.

Certified Locations Only

MessageByPlate™ certified locations include:

  • Parking Garages
  • Event Stadiums
  • Airports
  • Music Festivals
  • Outdoor Sporting Events
  • College Campuses
  • Retail Malls
  • Office Complexes…etc.
  • Certified locations are identified by business or location name as verified in text messaging exchanges.

 

In your account settings, select your preference under the communications preferences tab. You may change your preference at any time.

No.

MessageByPlate™ is a self contained, proprietary FCC regulated communications platform. Information is neither shared or retrieved from other third party platforms or databases.

By design, MessageByPlate™ does not track or have any GPS component/technical capability to track vehicle positioning.
